What makes CalSpeed different than my local indoor karting center?
Size, Speed, and Location! CalSpeed Karting features multiple course configurations up to .75 miles with 15 corners and multiple straightaways. Being located at the world famous Auto Club Speedway means CalSpeed Karting is situated at the epicenter of Southern California motorsports. Add in the fact that we own multiple fleets of karts and CalSpeed has the ability to offer everything from action packed Group Events to high-performance Karting Schools.
Where is CalSpeed Karting Center located?
Our state of the art karting facility is located on the grounds of the world-famous Auto Club Speedway, Southern California’s premier arena for motorsports. The Speedway is conveniently situated just east of where the 10 and 15 freeways meet in San Bernardino County – approximately 30 miles from Los Angeles and Orange County.
What are the standard days and hours that CalSpeed is open to the public?
CalSpeed Karting generally has practice or racing events every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Normal track hours for kart owners are as follows: gates open at 9am and track is hot from 10am to 5pm. Sport Karting hours are from 11am to 4pm with 3pm being the last call. Do I need to own a go-kart to be able to drive at CalSpeed?
No. CalSpeed offers several ‘Arrive & Drive’ programs, as well as the Sport Kart Experience, on most scheduled Open Practice days. Refer to the Event Calendar for a full schedule of Arrive and Drive events and Open Practice days.
What safety gear is required to drive at CalSpeed?
Drivers are required to wear full-face helmets, full coverage heavyweight clothing/racing suits, gloves, closed-toed shoes, and chest protector (for drivers under 12). For drivers looking to participate in the Sport Kart Experience or other Arrive & Drive programs, all required safety gear is available for rent onsite for a fee of up to $10. Please refer to the Open Practice page for detailed information on required safety gear. Kart owners are responsible for all of their own safety gear and must provide their own.
Is there an age requirement to drive at CalSpeed?
Yes. All of CalSpeed’s ‘Arrive & Drive’ programs require drivers to be a minimum of 12 years old. For private kart owners, karting clubs start as young as 5 years old and CalSpeed is home to several of Southern California’s top karting clubs that cater to all age groups.
Do I need to make reservations to drive at CalSpeed?
**UPDATED FOR COVID** Reservations are not required for kart owners looking to participate in any of our Open Practice days but it is strongly recommended to avoid a $20 surcharge for purchasing onsite. Kart owners can sign up online for upcoming dates for the immediate week. CalSpeed highly recommends reservations for any drivers looking to do ‘Arrive & Drive’ karting during an Open Practice day. Sport kart reservations may be made here for upcoming dates for the immediate week. For drivers looking to compete in any of our scheduled ‘Arrive & Drive’ racing programs, pre-registration is required. Please note that safety equipment rental is subject to additional fees up to $10 and must be purchased onsite.
Do parents or guardians need to be present?
Yes. Parents or documented legal guardians will be required to sign parental waiver forms for all drivers under the age of 18 upon arrival. See our minor waiver section for complete information.
